Newborn FAQs

WHEN SHOULD I CALL TO SCHEDULE MY NEWBORN SESSION?

Generally, babies are best photographed when they are under two weeks of age; however, this is dependent upon whether the baby was born full term and their birth weight. We suggest calling us within a few days of the baby being born. We always reserve room for newborn sessions, however; during the busy holiday season it is best to pre-book, as we can always change the schedule.

IS ONE WEEK TOO EARLY FOR MY SESSION?

Absolutely not! Most of the newborn images you see on our website are of babies that are anywhere from 7-14 days of age. If the baby is premature we may wait a bit longer until the baby has reached a healthy weight. If you would like those fresh, squishy baby photos, we recommend coming in within the first two weeks of life.

WHAT SHOULD MY BABY WEAR?

Newborns photograph best without any clothes at all. Erin loves to photograph newborns swaddled in soft, textured blankets and snuggled up tight in buckets and baskets. If you have a special blanket that you would like to bring along, we would be glad to accommodate you. Erin will customize your images with our extensive supply of colorful hats, bows, and headbands, which coordinate beautifully with our blankets and props.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY SESSION?

Once you book your session with Beautiful Beginnings you will receive a link to a digital guide to help you in preparing for your session. Of course, if you have any questions feel free to call or email me.

CAN I BE PHOTOGRAPHED WITH MY BABY?

Most certainly! This is our specialty and we wouldn’t have it any other way! Erin loves to capture the many emotions of those special first days with your new little one. There is no greater image than that of a new mother and father snuggling with and marveling at their newborn child. Skin on skin images are a unique way to capture the purity of this sacred relationship.
